I don’t know about you, but most days in order to be at my best I need some inspiration; something to get and keep me going. Usually, a bible verse, inspirational quote, and/or song that I sing unapologetically at the top of my lungs in the car does the trick. However, there are some days when I need something extra, a pep talk! A simple, short, and enthusiastic message to get me pumped up and ready to crush my goals. A nice reminder that I am right where I need to be, doing what it is I am meant to do. Lately, that pep talk has come in the form of a Note to Self.
There is something powerful about the words we use to uplift and affirm ourselves. For starters, we are usually the experts at knowing what we need the most. When we take the time to reflect on the positive things we believe to be true about ourselves and our current situations, we engage in a form of self-care that provides us with exactly what we need.
I encourage you to take some time to write your very own Note to Self. Think about your accomplishments, fears, goals, and dreams. Taking those things into consideration ask yourself “What do I need to hear in order to be proud of my accomplishments, overcome my fears, reach my goals, and live out my dreams?” Write these things down and then using “I statements” (e.g. I am a fighter) come up with a few sentences that will remind you of what it is you are working towards, your amazing potential, and your drive to succeed. So, open the notes section of your phone, find a post-it, get your journal, or a grab a random piece paper, and write yourself the message you need!
