I will admit that sometimes I need a little nudge (ok, more like a push) to get moving after I set my goals. This push reminds me that it is time to get into action mode! As we begin to practice the discipline of dreaming (click here to read our blog about dreaming), we make room for new ideas that we can transform into goals. Once we engage in the art of goal setting (click here to read about setting effective goals), we must be intentional about the action that follows.
In order to accelerate our goals, we must first develop and maintain an action mindset. When we accelerate we take purposeful action toward achieving our goals. In return, we see quicker and better results. Here are some tips that will help get and keep you in action mode!
1. Set and maintain a timeline -- We reach our goals faster when we set due dates and work according to a schedule. A well-developed timeline will keep you moving.
2. Eliminate Distractions -- Because we live in a world with so many distractions it is easy to lose focus. Amazing things happen when we get rid of distractions and focus on our goals. What would happen if you turned off your phone, ignored social media, and blocked out all the noise for just a few hours a day? I bet you would see quicker and better results.
3. Remain Enthusiastic -- I tell the families I work with to be enthusiastic when applying new skills to their everyday lives. The same is true for achieving goals. Be enthusiastic about your purpose, dreams, and goals. The journey towards becoming a legend should not be boring; actually, it should be the most “turnt up” part of your day. Do WHATEVER it takes to stay excited about your goals. It is easier to stay in action mode when we are excited about what we are doing.
